Local Love: MADE; For the People, By the People

One of my favorite people is Corrie Park, owner of MADE; For the People, By the People. Corrie welcomed me to Staunton and her shop with open arms when I moved here a few years ago and I'm so glad to call her friend. Not only is she awesome, but the shop is too! Transplants from Norfolk, Corrie, her husband and two children saw opportunity in Staunton and moved here in 2012 to open MADE.

Located at 15 E. Beverley St, MADE is warm, inviting and always smells great due to the hand poured soy candles Corrie makes right there in the shop. A modern day general store of sorts, they feature local and regional art/artists, handcrafted items, American made vintage clothing, and quirky gifts & books.

I dropped some of my stained glass off at the shop today and did a quick interview with Corrie, here's what she had to say.

Dream trip destination and why: Morocco! The street market fairs, the colors and food. A total sensory overload.

Do you have a guilty pleasure: Friday Night Lights (and she giggles)

Tell us something that is on your bucket list: An All-American cross country camping and road trip.

What do you love about Staunton and being a small business owner here: The accessibility to nature is great for my family, it's important to us to spend time outdoors, it's beautiful here. We love the community, people are supportive and friendly. Being a small business owner, I take great pride in supporting local artists and keeping money in my community. We carry over forty different local and regional artists.

Tell me a little bit about your home and why you love it: We purchased in Newtown two years ago. I love the historic details like the ceramic fireplace and built-ins. Even though we can't use the fireplace, it's so pretty and we love it.

If you haven't been into the shop, be sure to stop by the next time you are downtown and say hello to Corrie and her staff. You're sure to find something special for your holiday shopping and for yourself!

Corrie and I hosted an indie handcraft market in May 2017, The Little Made Market. I'm on the left, Corrie is on the right. We are planning a 2nd market coming this May! https://www.facebook.com/LittleMadeMarket/
